Marie
Etienne, author of the memoir Storkbites, has lived in the San
Francisco Bay Area for seventeen years. She completed her MBA at the
University of San Francisco in 1990 and is currently an accountant for
a local firm. Marie is a competitive master springboard diver, the mother
of two young boys, a volunteer soccer coach, an occasional handymans
assistant, a freelance writer, and an avid gardener.
After
the sudden deaths of her parents, Marie Etienne began writing about
her abusive childhood in Louisiana. The Etiennes were a large, wealthy
family plagued with murder, suicide, insanity, and alcoholism. For a
year Marie spent Tuesday and Thursday evenings and weekends writing
in the Barnes and Noble Cafe in Walnut Creek. At the end of twelve months
she had two thousand handwritten pages of manuscript. She has attended
numerous writing conferences including the Squaw Valley Community of
Writers.
She has studied with local authors such as Adair Lara,
Wendy Lichtman, and Janis Cooke Newman. Her work has appeared in the
Contra Costa Times. Her greatest ambitions include getting a Ph.D. from
an Ivy League college, raising her sons to be happy and healthy men,
and completing a novel.
Storkbites, Marie Etiennes first book,
is available now. Initial promotion of Storkbites will be throughout
California and Louisiana.
